The California Department of Justice maintains and publishes crime and arrest data for Riverside County. Its records show that there were 14,604 felony arrests and 33,280 misdemeanor arrests in the county in 2017, the most recent year with a complete set of records. These figures indicate the felony arrest rate went up 6% compared to the previous year, while the misdemeanor arrest rate fell by 7%. A closer look at felony arrests shows that violent offenses were responsible for 5,449 arrests, while property offenses accounted for 3,881 arrests in the same period. Drug and sex offenses accounted for 1,255 and 148 arrests, respectively.

Riverside County recorded 7,308 violent crimes, 61,826 property crimes, and 229 cases of arson in 2017. Compared to 2016 figures, these figures show that extreme and the property crime rates fell by 1.9% and 5.4% respectively while there was a 9.6% jump in arson rate. Aggravated assault was the most prevalent violent crime in the county, with 4,451 reported cases. The robbery came second with 2,226 incidents while there were 81 homicides and 550 rapes. A breakdown of property crime data for Riverside County shows that 2017 recorded 11,647 burglaries, 10,291 motor vehicle thefts, and 39,888 larcenies.

When compared to crime statistics for 2016, Riverside County saw 10% more rape cases in 2017. In contrast, the incidences of other crimes (except arson) shrank in the one-year period. There were 18.2% and 2.2% fewer homicides and robberies, respectively. Aggravated assault, burglary, motor vehicle theft, and larceny rates fell by 2.6%, 8.8%, 11.4%, and 2.6%, respectively.

How to Look Up Riverside County Property Records

Members of the public can search for Riverside County Property Records using the Riverside Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder online search tool.
